V2 Contest

The annual V-2 Contest is coming up.  The selected date is Saturday November 3.  We discussed some possible contest events at the meeting, but I have obtained information on the way the contest has been run in years past and I think we will stick with a good thing.

So, drum roll please, the events are:

Largest V-2   This will be awarded for the largest V-2 flown at the contest.
Remember, this will be a noticed launch, so all models must meet the Large
Model Rocket rules.  That means max 3.3 lbs. launch weight.

Smallest V-2  This will be awarded to the smallest V-2 flown at the contest.
Put on your thinking caps, the rules don't specify propulsion.  You'll have
to work hard to beat Sam Saenz's record on this one!

Best looking V-2  To be decided by (non-entrant) Judge

Best re-enacted V-2 flight.  This implies an arcing flight and low
deployment.  All applicable safety rules must be observed, like minimum
launch angle and the flight must end with a successful deployment and
recovery.  This one takes guts and planning!

Spot landing  This event is open to rockets of all shapes and sizes and is
usually has the most heated competition at the contest.  You'd be surprised
at the rockets that turn out to be the most competitive in this event.

There you have it, 5 fun events, ribbons for the winners and a fun day for
all.
