JSC Rocket Range flying rules:

1.      At least one approved Range Safety Officer must be present for all launches
RSO will insure oprable fire extinguishers and a cell phone are present
JSC Emergency Phone number is 281-483-3333
2.      All rockets must be checked by a Safety Monitor using the NHRC/NASA approved checklist before flight
3.      Regularly scheduled club launches at JSC will be noticed to the nearest Air Traffic Control facility
Waiver from FAR 101 will not be issued. Rockets are limited to less than 3.3 lbs (1500 grams)
including propellant and no more than 4.4 ounces (125 grams) of propellant
5.      Flying must only be from the asphalt area near the tower.
6.      The NAR model rocket code must be followed.
7.      Watch and LISTEN FOR approaching aircraft, don't launch until you determine
               that they are outbound.
8.      Follow the model rocket weight rules during non-club launches (i.e. maximum
lift-off weight of 1 pound including no more than 4 ounces of fuel).
Note, the large model rocket weight rules are only in effect during
               scheduled club launches.
9.      Never climb on the tower for any reason.
10.     Never park your car on the grass.
11.     Police your area for your trash and for any other trash that is in your area.
This includes Estes igniter plugs and composite igniter wires, spent
motor casings, spent reloads including o-rings and the usual trash
like soda cans, drink boxes and empty motor packages and other stuff
               that gets blown around.
12.     Leave a 20 foot "driveway" on the southwest side of the rocket launch area
asphalt so flyers that leave early won't have to drive on the grass or
               over your launch wires.
13.     When driving out to the rocket launch area stop at the point where the
concrete road enters the asphalt area.  SOUND YOUR HORN and wait until
the RC guys indicate by waving that it is ok to drive.  When they
wave OK, drive out but GET OFF THE CONCRETE ROAD and instead, DRIVE
ON THE FAR NORTHEAST EDGE OF THE ASPHALT near the grass.
14.     When leaving the rocket launch area stop at the stop sign (located on the
northeast side of the asphalt) and sound your horn. Wait for the
RC'ers to wave you on. Stay on the northeast side as you drive in.
15.     If you see someone who has forgotten these rules please remind them.
Remember it's every club members responsibility to follow and enforce
               the rules.
